Résumé : La constitutionnalisation du phénomène environnemental au Cameroun ne s’est pas faite en marge des grandes orientations définies à l’échelle internationale. Par la révision constitutionnelle du 18 janvier 1996 en effet, le constituant camerounais a fait de l’environnement un droit fondamental de l’homme dont la mise en œuvre suppose l’action concertée de tous les acteurs économiques et sociaux. Cependant, il n’en demeure pas moins que le contenu dudit droit reste marqué d’un anthropocentrisme étriqué que dix années d’activités législatives et réglementaires n’ont pas suffi à dépasser ; preuve que la protection de l’environnement va au-delà de considérations purement juridiques.
Summary : The constitutionalisation of the environmental phenomenon in Cameroon was done following the orientations which are defined at the international level. Following the constitutional revision of January 18, 1996, the Cameroonian constituant made environmental protection a fundamental human right whose implementation requires the concerted action of all the economical and social actors. Nevertheless, the protection of the said law is marked by the fact that human beings are at the center of protection. The legislative and regulatory activities for the past ten years have not proven the contrary. This is proof of the fact that environmental protection goes beyond purely juridical considerations.
